A union contract covers the wages, working hours, holiday, overtime, period of notice, sick leave and other. Members of Hlíf get paid in accordance with several different union contracts depending on where they work and what kind of work they do. The applicable union contracts are listed here below.
The collective bargaining agreement between Hlíf and SA
The agreement is effective from 1 May 2015 until 31 December 2018 for the members of Hlíf on the open labour market. In addition to Hlíf labour union, the Efling labour union, the Verkalýðs- og sjómannafélag Keflavíkur – (the Keflavík and vicinity labour and seamen‘s union) and the Stéttarfélag Vesturlands – (the West Iceland labour union) are also parties to the agreement. The agreement was signed on 29 May 2015 and it was passed by vote on 22 June that year.
Contract between Hlíf and the Government
The contract is effective from 1 May 2015 until 31 March 2019 and is is made for those members of Hlíf who work e.g. at Sólvangur, at health care centres, in Flensborg, at Vegagerðin (the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration) and also in various other places.
Contract between Hlíf and SFV
The contract is effective from 1 May 2015 until 31 March 2019. The contract was between SFV Samtök fyrirtækja í velferðarþjónustu – (SFV the association of enterprises in the welfare service sector) and Hlíf and applies for those members of Hlíf who work in Hrafnista.
Contract between Hlíf and the Icelandic Association of Local Authorities
The contract is effective from 1 May 2015 until 31 March 2019. The contract applies for those members of Hlíf who work for Hafnarfjörður municipality and for Garðabær municipality. The association of independent schools also use this contract as reference for contract terms so that the contract applies at the same time for those members of Hlíf who work in Hrafnista.
Collective agreement between Hlíf and Rio Tinto Alcan
A collective agreement between the respective labour unions on the one hand and Alcan at Straumsvík (ISAL) on the other hand. The agreement is effective from 1 March 2016 until 31 May 2019.
